REAAA - a conduit for dissemination of technical knowledge from Industry Working Groups

Presenters: Thorsten Froebel (Higgins) and Sarah Patrick (GHD)

Tuesday 5th September, 1.00pm

The National Pavements Technical Group (NPTG) and the National Surfacing Technical Group (NSTG) have been developing specifications and technical guidance for Waka Kotahi over the past 15 years. NZTA B-Series, NZTA T/19, NZTA M1/A and NZTA M10 are just some examples of what has been achieved.

The NPTG has had a refocus with three main streams being identified, these being share existing knowledge, develop new resources and build knowledge/research. In addition NPTG hosted an interactive workshop at the July NZIHT/NZTA Pavements Conference with the aim of starting conversations regarding expectations by the client, the consultant and the contractor. The REAAA has had a recent refocus to determine what place it has in the industry. One of these, which has always been a strong point of the REAAA, is dissemination of knowledge, in particular for our younger engineers. The annual roadshow seeks to provide a safe platform for young engineers in the regions to present some very interesting and thought provoking subjects through our young presenters awards. This presentation will inform our membership of how the REAAA plans to be the conduit for dissemination of technical knowledge to the industry.
